Nicholas Skeres

Nicholas Skeres was one of the four men present at the house of Eleanor Bull in Deptford, on the occasion of the death of the famous poet and playwright Christopher Marlowe. This occurred in 1593, when Marlowe was 29.

The other men present were Ingram Frizer, who claimed self-defence as the reason for the murder, and Robert Poley, an intelligence agent or spy.

Nicholas Skeres had once served the Earl of Essex, Robert Devereux. He lived in the parish of St. Helens, Bishopsgate, in London. The Skeres, or Skyeres, family, once lived at Skyeres Hall, near Wentworth, in Yorkshire.
